Enforcement Operations Against Public Entertainment Outlets And Public Gaming

The police have arrested eight women and nine men, aged between 26 and 70, in enforcement operations conducted against public entertainment outlets and public gaming on 2 March 2018.

 

During the operations, Central Police Division conducted a series of enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets located along Jalan Sultan, Jalan Besar and Marina Bay. Six women, aged between 26 and 54, were arrested for employment-related offences. A 32-year-old woman was also arrested for obstructing a police officer in the course of duty. Actions will also be taken against the operators of public entertainment outlets for contravening licensing conditions.

 

Additionally, nine men and one woman, aged between 39 and 70, were arrested for gambling in public along Geylang Bahru and Kelantan Lane. A total of $6,977 cash was seized. Under the Common Gaming House Act, any person gaming in any public place shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.

 

Investigations are ongoing.

 

The police will continue to take tough enforcement action against those who are involved in such illegal activities and they will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
