The police have arrested five men for their suspected involvement in a case of affray.


On 6 March 2018, the police were alerted to a fight which occurred along Syed Alwi Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that there were a few pedestrians walking along the road when a car driver sounded his car horn at them. A dispute broke out between the driver, his two passengers and the pedestrians, and during which blows were exchanged.
Through extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them on 9 March 2018. Police investigations are ongoing.

  

The offence of Affray under Section 267B of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 1 year, or with fine which may extend to S$5,000, or with both.
