The police have arrested two men aged 40 and 37 for their suspected involvement in loanshark harassment activities.

On 17 March 2018, the police were alerted that two residential units in Toa Payoh and a unit in Whampoa had been splashed with black paint. Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them on the same day along Redhill Lane.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 19 March 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory caning of not less than 3 and not more than 6 strokes.
