A total of 102 persons aged between 17 to 78 were arrested in Geylang for various offences during a 9-day multi-agency enforcement operation that ended on the morning of 23 March 2018.

 

The operation was led by Bedok Police Division and involved enforcement officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Health Sciences Authority (HSA), Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Singapore Customs (SC). The operation covered the Geylang Lorongs.

 

Three people aged between 21 to 30 were arrested for peddling contraband cigarettes. Illegal sexual enhancement products, contraband cigarettes, cough mixtures and illegal tablets were also seized during the operation. The total street value of seized items amounted to more than S$17, 000 (seventeen thousand dollars).

 

74 men and two women aged between 17 and 78 were arrested for various offences which include suspected drug-related offences, immigration offences, promoting public gaming, gaming in public, possession of offensive weapons, possession of scheduled weapons, and criminal force against public servant.

 

23 women aged between 19 and 45 were arrested under the Women Charter Act for vice-related offences.

 

Investigations against all suspects are ongoing.

 

Commander of Bedok Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Tan Tin Wee expressed his appreciation to all the agencies involved for their strong support and commended the officers for their professionalism and excellent teamwork which led to a successful operation.
