The Police have crippled an online vice syndicate in a two-day operation conducted on 22 and 23 March 2018.

During the operation, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted simultaneous raids at locations including Beach Road, Jellicoe Road, Mayo Street, Tan Quee Lan Street and Raffles Boulevard. A total of 13 women and two men, aged between 20 and 25, were arrested for their suspected involvement in the vice syndicate. Case exhibits such as mobile phones and a CCTV camera were also seized for investigations.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the suspects had operated a vice website which featured foreign female escorts who had advertised sexual services online.

The two men have been charged in court, while investigations against the women are ongoing. Under the Woman’s Charter, Chapter 353, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding S$10,000.

Police will spare no effort to clamp down and take tough enforcement action on vice activities, including those who operate on the Internet.
