From 16 April 2018, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) will replace the current uniforms of frontline officers with new operational uniforms.
- SPF collaborated with the Office of the Chief Science and Technology Officer (OCSTO)[1] to design and develop new operational uniforms tailored to our operating environment. For example, the new uniform design and fabric offers improved breathability, comfort and lightness. The new uniform will have the following enhancements:
- The word “POLICE” will be embroidered above the name tag.
- The metallic buttons on the current operational uniforms will be replaced with concealed plastic buttons. This will significantly enhance the officers’ comfort level and ease of wearing body vests over their uniforms, such as ballistic resistant and other operational vests.
- The new fabric allows for more efficient moisture absorption from the body and faster drying, which results in more efficient heat dissipation from the body. This allows Police officers, to cope better with the heat and humidity when they are outdoors carrying out their duties.
- These enhancements are part of SPF’s ongoing efforts to improve the operational effectiveness of our officers and support them in their policing work.
Please refer to Annexes A1 and A2 for the designs of the new operational uniforms.
[1]OCSTO is the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Science and Technology outfit. It works with the Home Team Departments to develop and deploy technologies to support the Home Team’s mission to keep Singapore safe and secure
