The Police have arrested a 62-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft of steel plates from construction sites.

Between December 2017 and April 2018, the Police received several reports of theft of steel plates from construction sites.

Following the reports, officers from Jurong Police Division arrested the man on 11 April 2018. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had operated an on-site excavator to remove the steel plates from the construction sites. The man is also believed to be involved in other similar cases in various parts of Singapore.

He will be charged in court on 14 April 2018 with the offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
