The Police have arrested a 69-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire.
On 24 April 2018, the Police were alerted to a case of a rubbish bin on fire at Blk 668 Woodlands Ring Road. Through ground enquiries and the aid of footages from Police Cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at the vicinity within an hour. A lighter was seized from him as a case exhibit.
Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. Anyone convicted for the offence of mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, is liable for a jail term up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
