The Police have arrested an 18-year-old teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle parts case along Commonwealth Drive.

On 29 May 2018 at 4.40pm, the Police received a report from a man, informing that some component parts were missing from his motorcycle that was parked at an open space carpark along Commonwealth Drive. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV, officers from Clementi Police Division arrested the man on 31 May 2018 along Silat Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in several other similar cases.

The man will be charged in court on 2 June 2018 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle chapter 224. Anyone convicted, will face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

The Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system for your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover your motorcycle, securing both ends.
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension guards; and
  • Look around the vicinity for suspicious characters before leaving. If you see any suspicious characters, take note of their appearance, attire, height, or any other distinctive physical features and call 999 for assistance. Do not confront them.
