The Police have arrested two 16-year-old teenagers for their suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 7 July 2018 at 11.32pm, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment where two teenagers were seen loitering outside a residential unit along Tampines Central 7. The exterior of the unit was also found to be splashed with paint.

Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the two teenagers and arrested them along Tampines Street 71 within 3 hours. Cans of paint and markers were seized from the both of them. They are believed to be involved in other cases of loanshark harassment island wide.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
