The Police have arrested two men, aged 30 and 32, for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night.

On 8 July 2018 at 5.26 am, Police received a report that a clinic along Bedok North Street 3 had been broken into and cash and medications were missing from the clinic.

Officers from Bedok Police Division arrested one of the men in the vicinity of the clinic at about 5.40am. With the aid of Police cameras, the officers established the identity of the second man and subsequently arrested him along Yishun Ring Road on the same day at about 4.00pm.

Both men will be charged in court on 9 July 2018 with housebreaking and theft by night with common intention under Section 457 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks; 
  • Secure all doors and window grills before leaving your shop unattended, even for a short while;
  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and
Keep large sums of cash in the banks, with minimal sum of money left behind in commercial premises at night.
