The Police have arrested a 28-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman for their suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 21 June 2018, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment at a carpark along Eunos Road 5 where six cars were splashed with paint and debtor notes were placed on the rear windscreen of the cars. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, the identities of the duo were established and they were arrested along Pasir Ris Drive 4 and Eunos Crescent respectively on 12 July 2018. Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo are believed to be involved in another loanshark harassment case.

The man and woman will be charged in court on 13 July 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
