The Police have arrested a 26-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in loansharking activities. 
 
On 4 July 2018, the Police received a report that an envelope containing a debtors’ note and hell notes was left at a residential unit along Toa Payoh Lorong 8. 
 
Through ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her along Canberra Street on 19 July 2018. Preliminary investigations revealed that she is believed to be involved in other cases of loanshark harassment island wide. 
 
Investigations are ongoing.  
 
Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory caning of not less than 3 strokes and not more than 6 strokes.
