The Police have arrested a 64-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon. 
 
On 22 July 2018 at about 4.20pm, the Police received a report of a man hitting a 54-year-old woman with a hammer in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio MRT Station before fleeing from the location. The woman suffered head injuries and was conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. 

Through a search conducted, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division located the man who was found drunk at a coffeeshop along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. He was subsequently arrested. A sling bag and a hammer were seized as case exhibits.

The man will be charged in court on 24 July 2018 with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon. Anyone convicted for causing hurt by dangerous weapon shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
