Enforcement Operations Against Massage Establishments and Public Entertainment Outlets

The Police conducted a series of enforcement operations against massage establishments and public entertainment outlets on 26 and 27 July 2018.

During the enforcement operations against massage establishments along Beach Road, one massage establishment was found to have contravened licensing conditions. Another three establishments were detected to be operating as unlicensed massage establishments. A total of six women aged between 32 and 59 were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. Five women did not have valid work permits and the sixth had employed a foreign employee without a valid work permit.

During the enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets along Beach Road, Haji Lane, Duxton Road, South Bridge Road and Tanjong Pagar Road, three outlets were found to have contravened licensing conditions. Another two outlets were detected to have provided public entertainment without valid licences. Out of these two outlets, one had supplied liquor for consumption without a licence. Eleven women, aged between 19 and 37, were also arrested for working without valid work permits.

Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act, Liquor Control Act and Massage Establishment Act. The Police takes a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take tough enforcement stance against such activities.
