The police have arrested a 59-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire. 

 

On 29 July 2018 at about 4.50am, the Police received a report that a rubbish bin at the lift lobby of Block 146 Tampines Street 12 was on fire. There were no injuries or casualties reported. 

 

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and subsequently arrested him along Tampines Street 12. Preliminary investigation revealed that the man is believed to have set fire to discarded items placed at the lift lobby. 

 

The man will be charged in court on 31 July 2018. Anyone convicted for mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, is liable for an imprisonment term up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
