Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Chong Zunjie (张尊介) will assume the command of Tanglin Police Division with effect from 13 August 2018. He takes over from Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tan Chia Han (陈正汉), who will be assuming a work attachment position on the same day.
DAC Chong, 36, recently returned from his post-graduate studies. He joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2001 and has served 17 years with the SPF. He previously held several key appointments including Head Operations and Training of Clementi Police Division, Assistant Director of the Intelligence Doctrine and Development at Police Intelligence Department and Deputy Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division.
AC Tan, 39, was appointed Commander of Tanglin Police Division on 1 January 2016. He joined SPF in 1998 and has served 20 years. He has held several key appointments including Senior Assistant Director (Immigration and Registration) of Policy and Operations Division at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Deputy Commander of Jurong Police Division and Deputy Director of Planning & Organisation Department.
During AC Tan’s tenure as Commander of Tanglin Police Division, he fostered Tanglin Police Division’s capabilities to conduct diverse security operations and oversaw major deployments such as the 32nd ASEAN Summit, Shangri-la Dialogue and the Summit between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and United States of America (USA).
AC Tan also inculcated a strong culture towards training and exercises to ensure the division’s readiness for routine, major event security and contingency operations. Under AC Tan’s direction, the division conducted numerous training exercises in public areas which simulated assortments of scenarios such as active gunmen situations. The division also initiated ground deployment exercises with embassies to validate joint response plans to emergencies.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Tanglin Police Division, AC Tan said, "I am extremely grateful to all officers, including Voluntary Special Constabulary and Police National Servicemen, for their unwavering commitment and dedication to duty. The division had been effective in our fight against crime. We also successfully conducted numerous security operations, such as the DPRK-USA Summit and the 32nd ASEAN Summit. This achievement would not have been possible without my officers’ and their families’ support. I wish everyone will continue to provide the same support to the new commander."
