The Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of housebreaking and theft by night.

 

On the 8 July 2018, the Police received a report that a temple along Punggol Place had been broken-into and cash was reported to be stolen.

 

In another case on 3 August 2018, the Police received a report of an attempted break-in at a temple along Lorong Ong Lye. 

 

Through extensive investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Upper Serangoon Road. A pair of gloves and two screwdrivers were seized as case exhibits.

 

The man will be charged in court on 8 August 2018 with attempted housebreaking and theft by night under Section 456 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of 3 years and also liable to a fine. 

 

The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:  

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured before leaving the house;
  • Secure all doors and window grills when leaving your home or the office;
  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises;
  • Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and
  • Keep large sums of cash in the banks, with minimal sum of money left behind in commercial premises at night.
