The Police have arrested a 56-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

 

On 13 June 2018 at about 4.30am, the Police received a report that a residential unit along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 had been broken into and handphone was reported to be stolen.

 

Through investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 on 14 August 2018. The handphone was also recovered.

 

The man will be charged in court on 16 August 2018 with housebreaking and theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years with caning. 

 

The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures: 

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured before retiring to bed or when leaving your home, even for a short while:
  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables at home; and
  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
