The Police conducted a series of enforcement operations against public gambling, massage establishments and public entertainment outlets on 21 and 22 August 2018.
Three men, aged between 54 and 71, were arrested along Banda Street for public gambling. Cash amounting to $156, was seized. Under the Common Gaming House Act, any person gaming in any public place shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
During the enforcement operations against massage establishments along Rochor Road, one licensed massage establishment was found to have contravened licensing conditions. A 27-year-old woman was arrested under the Women’s Charter for vice-related offences.
During the enforcement operations against public entertainment outlets along Serangoon Road, Temasek Boulevard, Raffles Boulevard and Upper Circular Road, one public entertainment outlet was found to have contravened licensing conditions.
Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Massage Establishment Act. The Police takes a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take a tough enforcement stance against such activities.
