The Police have arrested a 35-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of theft of motor vehicle parts at along Lorong 23 Geylang.

On 21 August 2018 at 12.59pm, the Police were informed that motorcycle parts were stolen from two vehicles parked along Lorong 23 Geylang. With the aid of police cameras, the identity of the suspect was established and he was arrested on 22 August 2018.

The suspect will be charged in court on 24 August 2018 with theft of motor vehicle component parts under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine. 

The Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system for your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover your motorcycle, securing both ends; and
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension guards.
