The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 30 August 2018, the Police received a report that the door of a residential unit along Tampines Street 45 was splashed with red paint and the wall was pasted with a loanshark-related note. Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Rivervale Crescent on 28 September 2018. A handphone was seized as case exhibit. 

The man will be charged in court on 1 October 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years, and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
