The Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 25 September 2018, the Police received a report that the gate of a residential unit along Lorong Ah Soo had been secured by a cable tie. A debtor note was also pasted on the gate.

Through ground enquiries and images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Yishun St 22 on 2 October 2018.

The suspect will be charged in court on 3 October 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
