The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night.
On 3 October 2018 at about 9.25am, the Police received a report that a residential unit along Siglap Terrace had been broken into and a Rolex watch as well as a pair of shoes were missing.
Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Lavender Road on 4 October 2018.
The man will be charged in court on 6 October 2018 with housebreaking and theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
• Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks before retiring to bed or when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;
• Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and
• Refrain from keeping large sums of cash at home.
