The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 2 September 2018 at about 9am, the Police received a report of loanshark harassment where the gate of a residential unit along Yishun Avenue 7 was splashed with paint and secured with a bicycle lock.

With the aid of images from CCTVs and police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Woodgrove Drive on 12 October 2018.

The man will be charged in court on 13 October 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
