Man Arrested For Offences Of Causing Hurt By Means Of Poison And Theft In Dwelling

The Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of causing hurt by means of poison and theft in dwelling.

 

On 24 October 2018 at 1.48am, the Police received a report of a case of theft at a hotel along Geylang Road. 

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman is believed to have been drugged by an unknown man, before her valuables were subsequently stolen. Through extensive enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day at Sultan Plaza. Cash, multiple mobile phones and jewelleries were seized. 

 

The man is believed to be involved in other similar cases reported between 17 October and 24 October 2018. 

 

The man will be charged in court on 26 October 2018 causing hurt by means of poison and theft in dwelling under Section 328 and Section 380 of the Penal Code respectively.

 

Any person found guilty for causing hurt by means of poison shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine or to caning. Any person found guilty for theft in dwelling shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
