The Police have arrested five men and ten women, aged between 16 and 64, for various offences following a six-day joint enforcement operation conducted from 17 to 22 November 2018.

In the operation led by Ang Mo Kio Police Division, more than 400 persons and 89 residential and commercial units in Ang Mo Kio, Kovan, Sembawang and Yishun were checked.

Amongst those arrested, nine women and one man, aged between 21 to 39, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter. The women were believed to have advertised their sexual services online and operating within residential units in Kovan and Yishun residential estates. Fifteen handphones were seized as case exhibits. The 33-year-old man was believed to have rented a residential unit which was used for the illicit activities.

Vice activities were detected in one licensed massage establishment and another massage establishment was found to be operating without a valid licence and offering sexual service within the premises. A 55-year-old woman was also arrested at one of the massage establishments for offences under the Women’s Charter.

In addition, two men, aged 30 and 64, were arrested for their suspected involvement in online scams. Another two male teenagers, both aged 16, were arrested for unlicensed moneylending offences.

Investigations into these cases are on-going.

The Police will spare no effort to stamp out illegal activities and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
