On 22 December 2018 at 11.53am, the Traffic Police was alerted to an accident involving a lorry and a cyclist along Pasir Ris Drive 3. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 35-year-old cyclist was riding near to the front left side of the lorry driven by a 57-year-old man, when the cyclist raised his right hand and hit the left side mirror of the lorry. The lorry then veered to its left and collided into the cyclist who sustained abrasions and bruises.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Under Section 279 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, motorists caught for dangerous driving or riding, upon conviction, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both. Under Section 426 of the Penal Code, those who commit mischief, upon conviction, shall be liable to a fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both.

Rash driving or riding is dangerous and could result in serious or fatal traffic accidents. All motorists are urged to drive safely and strictly abide to traffic rules and regulations. The Traffic Police will not hesitate to take firm action against motorists who choose to endanger the safety of other road users.
