Five Women Arrested During An Enforcement Operation Against Vice Activities

The Police have arrested five women, aged between 21 and 37, during an enforcement operation against vice activities on 14 January 2019 along Rangoon Road, Stamford Road and Victoria Street.

During the operation conducted by Central Police Division, the five women were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter. They are believed to have advertised their sexual services online and carried out the vice activities in hotels and apartments. 

Investigations are ongoing.

Landlords and hotel owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises. Unlicensed brothel operators can be given a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or up to five years’ imprisonment. Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person can be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000.

The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities. Those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
