The Police have arrested two men, aged 58 and 51, for their suspected involvement in a case of bicycle theft at Blk 162 Woodlands Street 13.

On 3 February 2019 at about 5.25pm, the Police received a report that a secured bicycle was missing from the bicycle bay at Blk 162 Woodlands Street 13. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Woodlands West Neighbourhood Police Centre identified the two suspects and arrested them on 5 February 2019. A bicycle and a dark blue cap were seized as case exhibits.

Anyone convicted of theft may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.

The Police would like to remind members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures to safeguard their bicycles from theft:

  • Lock your bicycle when left unattended, even if it is only for a short while. All removable bicycle components should also be secured;
  • Use durable locks. Consider using a U-lock as it provides better security, complemented with a cable lock, or use a bicycle lock with an alarm feature.
