The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of housebreaking at Blk 498B Tampines Street 45.

On 7 February 2019 at about 7.50pm, Police received a report that a residential unit located at Blk 498B Tampines Street 45 had been broken into. Cash and jewellery amounting to a total of $100,000 were reported stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 8 February 2019.

The man will be charged in court on 9 February 2019 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Day under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years.

The Police would like to advise all home owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
    • Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your home unattended, even if for a short while;
    • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuable at home; and
    • Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your homes. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition
