The Police have arrested five men, aged between 24 and 55, for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting.
On 23 February 2019 at about 9.45pm, the Police received several reports that there was a group of people fighting at a coffee shop located at Blk 167 Woodlands Street 11. The group had fled the scene prior to Police’s arrival. The 47-year-old victim was conscious but refused to be conveyed to a hospital.
Through ground enquiries and investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the men and arrested them on 27 and 28 February 2019 respectively.
Police investigations are ongoing. Anyone convicted for the offence of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
