The Police have arrested seven women, aged between 27 and 45, in a two-day enforcement operation against massage establishments and public entertainment outlets along Beach Road, Temple Street, Pagoda Street, Gemmill Lane, Upper Weld Road and Jalan Sultan from 28 February to 1 March 2019.
During the enforcement operation conducted by Central Police Division, two unlicensed massage establishments were detected and two licensed establishments were found to have contravened licensing conditions. Four women, aged between 27 and 33, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.
One public entertainment outlet was found to be providing public entertainment without a valid license while one other had contravened public entertainment licensing conditions. Three women, aged between 37 and 45, were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
Investigations are ongoing.
Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Massage Establishment Act 2017. The Police takes a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law.
