The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft of batteries from lorries. 

Between 29 and 30 March 2019, the Police received two reports from victims that their lorries’ batteries were stolen at the vicinity of Woodlands Industrial Park E.

Through follow up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 2 April 2019. Six batteries, which are believed to be stolen, were seized as case exhibits.

The man will be charged in court on 4 April 2019 with theft of motor vehicle component parts under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.
