Six Arrested In Enforcement Operation Against Massage Establishments And Public Entertainment Outlets

The Police have arrested six women, aged between 27 and 37, in a two-day enforcement operation against massage establishments along Middle Road, North Bridge Road, Neil Road, Lavender Street, and public entertainment outlets along Beach Road and Raffles Boulevard from 8 to 9 March 2019.

During the enforcement operation conducted by the Central Police Division, three unlicensed massage establishments were detected and one licensed massage establishment was found to have contravened licensing conditions. Two women, aged 35 and 36, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.

During checks on public entertainment outlets, one outlet was found to have contravened public entertainment licensing conditions. Three women, aged between 27 and 29, were arrested for working without valid work permits under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. In a separate check on another outlet, a 37-year-old woman was arrested for drunkenness in a public place.

Investigations are ongoing.

Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainments Act, Liquor Control Act and Massage Establishments Act 2017. The Police takes a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take a tough enforcement stance against such activities.
