The Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft of electric scooters.
On 13 March 2019 at about 11.30pm, the Police received a report that an electric scooter which was parked at the bicycle bay outside Bishan MRT station was missing.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 21 March 2019. An electric scooter was seized as case exhibit. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft island wide.
The man will be charged in court on 23 March 2019 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or both.
