The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 31 March 2019 at about 12.15am, the Police received a report from a victim informing that his motor vehicle was stolen along Tampines Central 1.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 1 April 2019. The missing motor vehicle was recovered along Tampines Street 21.

The man will be charged in court on 3 April 2019 with theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Remove cash-cards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle and
  • Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
