The Police have arrested 12 women, aged between 22 and 33, during a series of enforcement operations conducted against massage establishment and public entertainment outlets along Tanjong Pagar Plaza, Middle Road, Telok Blangah Crescent and South Bridge Road from 12 to 13 April 2019
During the enforcement operations conducted by Central Police Division, one unlicensed massage establishment was detected and another was found to have contravened licensing conditions. A 28-year-old woman was arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.
A public entertainment outlet was also found to have contravened licensing conditions. 11 women, aged between 22 and 33, were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
Investigations are ongoing.
Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Massage Establishment Act and Public Entertainment Act. Under the Women’s Charter, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000.
The Police takes a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law.
