The Police have arrested a 31-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in multiple cases of cheating.

Between 27 April 2019 and 1 May 2019, the Police received numerous reports of cheating. The suspect would request to take up loans from victims, promising them an interest between S$200 and S$300 for every 15 days. However, after the victims disbursed the loans to the suspect, she failed to deliver the interest and became uncontactable. The total amount loss amounting to S$50,000.

Through enquiries, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her on 2 May 2019. Investigations are ongoing. 

Anyone found guilty of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 may be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
