The Police have arrested a 50-year-old woman for transmitting a false message.
 
On 24 May 2019 at about 1.20pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fight involving 15 people at a mosque located along Jalan Ismail.
 
Following the call, officers from Bedok Police Division responded to the incident and it was established that there was no fight at the mosque. Further investigations revealed that the caller has provided false information by claiming that a fight had taken place at the mosque. The identity of the caller was established and she was arrested within 24 hours of the call.
 
Investigations are ongoing. Anyone convicted for transmitting false message under Section 45(b) of the Telecommunications Act, Chapter 323, shall be punished with a fine not exceeding $10,000, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both.
