The Police are investigating a 15-year-old youth for his suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire.
On 24 May 2019 at about 5.50pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fire at level 7 lift landing area of Blk 560 Pasir Ris Street 51. There were no injuries or casualties reported.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the youth. Preliminary investigation revealed that the youth is believed to have set fire to a sofa placed at the lift lobby.
Police investigations are ongoing. Anyone convicted for mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, is liable for an imprisonment term up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
