The Police conducted a three-day enforcement operation against massage establishments and public entertainment outlets along Jalan Besar, Park Road, Upper Cross Street, Syed Alwi Road, Middle Road and Jalan Sultan between 2 and 4 July 2019.
During the enforcement checks conducted by Central Police Division, three unlicensed massage establishments were detected. Two women, aged 30 and 37, were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. The 30-year-old woman was also arrested for an offence under the Immigration Act.
One public entertainment outlet was found to have contravened the public entertainment licensing conditions. Nine women, aged between 21 and 35, were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. Two men, both 37, were arrested for obstructing public servants in discharging their duties.
Investigations are ongoing.
Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Massage Establishment Act and the Public Entertainment Act. The Police takes a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those found breaking the law.
