On 19 and 20 June 2019, the Police received four reports from victims, informing that their unattended bags and valuables were stolen at the National University of Singapore.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 4 July 2019. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other cases of theft.
The man will be charged in court on 6 July 2019 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he shall be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
