The Police conducted an anti-vice operation on 15 and 16 July 2019 along Jalan Besar, Tiong Bahru Road, Race Course Road, Beach Road, Horne Road, Rangoon Road, Tanjong Katong and Meyappa Chettiar Road.
During the two-day operation, 36 women, aged between 18 and 42, were arrested for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities. Preliminary investigations revealed that the women had advertised their sexual services online and operated from residential units and hotels.
A 28-year-old man was arrested for assisting in vice syndicates in the management of a place of assignation under Section 147(1) of the Women’s Charter. If convicted, first-time offenders shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The Police take a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law.
