The Police have arrested two men, aged 20 and 22, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.
On 1 August 2019, the Police were alerted that a motorcycle which was parked at an open carpark located near Block 134 Marsiling Road was missing.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTV footages, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the men and arrested them on 2 August 2019. The motorcycle was also recovered in the vicinity of Woodlands Street 13.
The two men will be charged in court on 3 August 2019 with theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries an imprisonment term of up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
- Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
- Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
- Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
