The Police have arrested a 57-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft along Toa Payoh Lorong 4.

On 8 August 2019 at about 9pm, the Police received a report that a lorry parked at a carpark along Toa Payoh Lorong 4 was stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the on 9 August 2019 along Bedok North Street 3.

The man will be charged in court on 10 August 2019 with theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Remove the ignition key whenever the vehicle is left unattended;
  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
