The Traffic Police (TP) conducted a joint operation with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and National Environment Agency (NEA) against errant heavy vehicle drivers on 15 August 2019.

During the operation, 26 summonses were issued against 25 heavy vehicle drivers for various traffic offences such as speeding and failing to keep left. In addition, 39 LTA offences such as improper number plates, tinted windows and overloading were also detected. NEA also issued 1 summons to a heavy vehicle driver for vehicular smoke emission.

TP takes a serious view of heavy vehicle drivers who flout traffic rules as heavy vehicles are capable of causing greater damage and loss of lives when involved in accidents. In 2018, there were 776 accidents involving heavy vehicles, resulting in 26 fatalities and 1,174 injured persons.

Besides enforcement, TP will continue to engage heavy vehicle drivers and their companies to adopt good practices for safer driving.

TP would also like to urge all motorists to adopt good RoadSense in helping to keep the Singapore roads safer for everyone.
