The police have arrested a 51-year-old male for his suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire.

On 2 September 2019 at about 5.40am, Police were alerted to a case of fire at Block 122 Bedok North Street 2. Items discarded near the ground floor lift lobby were damaged by fire. There were no injuries or casualties reported.

Through ground enquiries and the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 16 hours.

The accused will be charged in court on 4 September 2019 with mischief by fire with intent to cause damage to property under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable for a jail term of up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
