The Police are investigating three men, aged between 47 to 67, for their suspected involvement in unlawful remote gambling activities.
In an operation conducted on 3 September 2019, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division raided a unit in an industrial building along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, where the three men were found to be engaged in unlawful remote gambling activities. Cash amounting to about $2,000, one handphone, 10 computers, two laptops, gambling paraphernalia, documents containing transaction records, and furniture used to facilitate gambling activities, were seized as case exhibits.
Investigations are ongoing.
Under the Remote Gambling Act 2014, any person who provides unlawful remote gambling services for another shall be liable on conviction to a fine of not less than $20,000 and not more than $200,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Zhang Weihan expressed his appreciation to all the officers involved in the operation, and said: “The Police take a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law.”
