The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of unlawful discharge of dangerous fireworks.
On 27 October 2019 at about 8pm, the Police received a report that someone had set off fireworks along Jurong West Street 73. No injuries were reported.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 29 October 2019. Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of discharging dangerous fireworks under Section 3(1)(b), Chapter 72, carries a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000, a jail term of up to 2 years, or both.
Members of the public are reminded that it is an offence to possess, sell, transport, send, deliver, distribute or import any dangerous fireworks. The Police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others as well as cause undue alarm to the public, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
